Afro-Cuban Dances

As a follow up to his Latin Grammy winning album, Latin American Classics, Vol. 1, pianist Kristhyan Benitez focuses on music by legendary Cuban composer and pianist, Ernesto Lecuona

“The world doesn't have a clear idea of how sophisticated and avant-garde Latin music is, and this album is a perfect example. Ten tracks to enjoy and let yourself be embraced by the expressive energy, the textures and the elegance that the sounds of the Caribbean evoke.”

About
I'm a classical music pianist. – I won the Latin Grammy 2021 for "Best Classical Music" album. While I worship  the classical music of the past, I am also devoted to playing music from my own country (Venezuela), including the classical music that no one knows about in Latin America, and its rich, vast and diverse tradition of folk and popular music, as a result  of “MESTIZAJE” (mixed race: Spaniard, Indigenous and African).

There's a lot to discover and enjoy in a Latin American music playlist, so how fortunate am I to sail between the classical music world and the great musical traditions of Venezuela and Latin America.

Grammy winner pianist, Kristhyan Benitez, has appeared at some of the world’s most prestigious stages such as Philarmonie Hall (Berlin), Davies Symphony Hall (San Francisco), Lincoln Center (New York), Walt Disney Concert Hall (Los Angeles), Ehrbar Saal (Vienna), Salle Cortot (Paris), National Center for the Performing Arts (Beijing), Palacio de Bellas Artes (Mexico City), Amadeo Roldan Theater (Havana), Teresa Carreño Cultural Complex and Simon Bolivar Hall (Caracas), with performances throughout Asia, Europe, South America and the United States.

Benitez has performed under the baton of Claudio Abbado, Gustavo Dudamel, Alondra de la Parra, Carlos Riazuelo, Felipe Izcaray, Christian Vasquez, Lina Gonzalez-Granados, Giancarlo Guerrero, Piero Gamba, Patrick Lange, James Orent, Benjamin Zander, Eduardo Marturet among others.

Kristhyan is an exclusive Steinway & Sons Artist.
